How we work
Four principles behind every set of books.
Monthly, not annual
Books reconciled every month catch problems in weeks, not at tax time next year — when errors have already compounded and cost real money.
A bookkeeper, not just software
Auto-fed bank feeds create duplicate and miscategorized transactions more often than they prevent them. Every account gets reviewed by a person before it's called done.
Built for small business
Sole proprietors and small business owners are the focus, not the afterthought — no enterprise minimums, no team of strangers rotating through your file.
Reports you can read
Financial statements come with a plain-language explanation of what they mean for your business, not just a export from the software.
Real results
How Ledger Rise helped a client avoid a huge tax penalty.
A Ledger Rise client used QuickBooks for both bookkeeping and payroll, with bank feeds set to auto-categorize hundreds of expenses a month. When we reconciled their accounts for the year, we found hundreds of transactions recorded twice — once from the payroll direct deposit, once from the bank feed miscategorizing "QuickBooks" postings as a software expense.
The duplication understated their profit by over $100,000. Sent to the IRS as-is, that misstatement could have meant serious penalties — and it had already been skewing the owner's strategy discussions and business valuation for months.
We cleaned up every duplicate transaction, corrected the categorization, set up a rule to prevent it from happening again, and delivered accurate financials to their CPA before filing.
The takeaway: monthly bookkeeping would have caught this within weeks instead of a year — saving roughly $3,000 in clean-up fees, and avoiding months of decisions made on numbers that were wrong.
Who we serve
About
Why Ledger Rise
I'm Joseph, founder of Ledger Rise. I'm the son of a small business owner, and I grew up working alongside my dad through middle school, high school, college, and beyond — watching him spend tireless hours running the business while the books fell to the bottom of the to-do list.
Avoiding your books gets expensive: higher clean-up fees, tax penalties, and a weaker position when it's time for a loan, an investor, or a valuation. After a Bachelor's in Accounting, several years in tax and accounting services, continuing to run the books for our family business, and building a financial literacy program, I started Ledger Rise to help small business owners actually get a handle on their finances.
You'll notice most accounting software now markets AI features that seem to handle bookkeeping automatically. AI has sped up plenty of basic tasks, but it hasn't produced accurate, tax-ready financial statements on its own — we've cleaned up plenty of books from businesses that auto-fed their bank and card statements straight into their software, only to end up with duplicate or miscategorized transactions.
